Audinate Announces Full Availability of Dante Application Library Software

by | Audio, AVL Projects, News, Production

Previously available only to a select few entities, Audinate has announced full availability of the Dante Application Library software development kit (SDK) for PC and Mac that provides software developers with a conduit to the huge base of products connected via Dante, including microphones, loudspeakers, signal processors, amplifiers, loudspeakers, and more.

“Dante is the native language of professional audio,” says Nick Mariette, Senior Product Manager at Audinate. “The success of any audio software application hinges upon customers being able to easily connect to audio devices in the system they are using. More and more audio devices connect via Dante’s AV-over-IP. Dante Application Library brings Dante network functionality directly into applications, giving users access to an ecosystem of more than 3,000 Dante-enabled audio products from more than 500 manufacturers.”

Dante networking presently has the largest installed base of audio devices in the AV space today, with data from RH Consulting indicating it’s the protocol utilized in more than 91 percent of the networked audio products currently on the market. Dante Application Library provides a way for developers seeking to reach customers within this widely adopted ecosystem.

Developers can integrate Dante device discovery and subscriptions directly into their software products for conferencing, recording, lecture capture, media playback, or other applications for a “one-stop-shop” setup experience. Dante Application Library can simplify setup of Unified Communications applications, allow for easier deployment of software-based digital signal processors and audio utilities, streamline use of lecture and courtroom capture software, automate connections to DAW applications for recording and processing, make configuration of Media Player software more reliable, and more. With simple and flexible licensing, Dante Application Library makes it easy for developers to get started.

“Each application runs its own instance of Dante, allowing multiple applications to send and receive networked audio independently from one another,” says Mariette. “The possibilities for real-time audio processing and capture are endless thanks to Dante Application Library.”

Dante Application Library facilitates up to 64 x 64 channels of bidirectional audio at a 48 kHz sample rate and stated minimum network latency of 4 milliseconds. There’s support for multiple instances of Dante Application Library on the same computer, DAL connection API and Dante API control interfaces, and compatibility with Dante Controller and Dante Domain Manager.
