d&b audiotechnik has introduced introduction the D40, a new four-channel class D power amplifier, the mobile version of the company’s 40D amplifier for installed applications.
“The D40 is a great example of d&b’s drive to produce innovative, high-performing audio solutions,” states d&b Product Manager Wolfgang Schulz. “Enhanced feature benefits and power efficiency combined with energy savings features increases system efficiency.”
The amplifier’s front-panel user interface consists of a 4.3-inch (480 x 272 pixel) color touchscreen and a digital rotary encoder that provides information of the device configuration and enhanced status monitoring. Onboard DSP is provided to incorporate loudspeaker configurations and user-definable setups, equalization and delay functions.
The D40 has a stated dynamic range of 116 dB (unweighted) and is designed to drive high-voltage d&b loudspeakers while providing management and protection capabilities. It reaches 180 volts peak to deliver full performance capabilities with the d&b KSL, V-Series and Y-Series, and combines advanced voltage management to drive systems that demand less input power as a whole. Also included are enhanced energy saving features, power efficiency and automatic wake up.
As part of the d&b family, the D40 benefits from software that includes ArrayCalc, ArrayProcessing, NoizCalc as well as R1 Remote control software.
