Creating a Safety & Security Team from Scratch

by | Facilities, Leadership, Podcasts, Security

Safety and security in your church isn’t just about having undercover cops in place; it involves so much more. From physical protection, to conflict resolution, to childcare health & safety, there are many factors to consider. Listen in as Amanda Weikel and Heart Sutton at Mosaic Church in Maryland discuss how Heart created her church’s team from scratch. Learn what type of people make the best team members and how to care for your team.

Meet Amanda and Heart

Amanda Weikel

Amanda serves as the Communications Director and Creative Arts Producer for Mosaic Christian Church. In her two-fold role, she manages and promotes Mosaic’s brand as well as oversees the creative service elements from conception to execution. After almost 10 years in ministry, she has found her dream mission in spending her days doing her small part to seek and save. She and her husband Nick have two young sons, and when she’s not wrestling with or chasing them around, she’s at the gym or reading one of many books piled by her bed.

Heart Sutton

Heart Sutton wears many hats in her position at Mosaic Christian Church. As the Director of Local Impact, she oversees strategic partnerships with organizations that affect significant change throughout the state of Maryland. She also serves as the Director of Guest Experience as she leads the parking, greeting, usher, and security team to ensure that every person who gathers on Sundays experiences a welcoming and safe environment. As a church for people who don’t go to church, Mosaic’s standard for distraction-free and confusion-free spaces is elevated, and Heart leads the teams that execute the systems needed to ensure those spaces. When she’s not leading her teams, she can be found on a date with her husband Mike, or having a dance party with her daughter Emma.
