by | Audio, Audio Connections, CFX, CFX Community, Church Facilities Expo, Production

The Live Sound Loudspeaker Demo at CFX 2024 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, showcased various audio companies like TW Audio, Renkus-Heinz, Electro-Voice, Biamp, Crest Audio and alcons. All these companies demonstrated a portable system and a compact line array system.  This demo offered listeners an opportunity to listen, evaluate and compare 12 leading professional loudspeaker systems in a controlled listening environment while networking with pro audio community and loudspeaker vendors.

The CFX 2024 Trade Show Floor offered a chance to view and use equipment and technologies used in live sound applications. These demos allow attendees to experience the sound quality and performance of different loudspeakers in real-time, often featuring a mix of music genres and professional setups.

Participants usually include audio engineers, musicians, and sound enthusiasts who are interested in learning about the latest advancements in sound equipment. It’s a great opportunity to test gear, ask questions, and see how different loudspeakers perform in a live environment. If you’re planning to attend next year, be sure to check the event schedule for specific details!

The event has attracted more than 10,000 attendees over the past several years. This time out, it was held at the Chattanooga Convention Center proximate to the CFX trade show floor. Tech sponsors for the event included Allen & Heath (Avantis console), Lectrosonics (Digital Wireless systems) and Rational Acoustics (10EaZy SPL monitoring platform).

This year’s format featured round-robin demo sessions for both portable and compact loudspeaker systems hosted in one area. (Compact systems are larger-format, flown loudspeakers, while portable systems are smaller-format, ground-based loudspeakers.) In each round-robin session, the systems (which are level matched) are played back to back, providing added context for the evaluation process.

Systems showcased by each manufacturer: alcons LR7 and LR15, Biamp Desono ENT-FR and IV6, Crest Audio CPL 5C+ and Versarray PRO 112, TW AUDiO ELLA 6 and VEEA20, Renkus-Heinz IC Live X  and Electro-Voice Everse 12 and LRC-2100.

During each demo session, the systems were fed identical music tracks, enabling listeners to evaluate what they heard and also observe each system’s scale, components and other important details. In addition technical details and pricing information were provided from qualified representatives of each company participating in the demo. Finally, each manufacturer presented 20-minute individual demo sessions, highlighting and further explaining their own systems and technology.

Next year’s Live Sound Loudspeaker Demo will be at CFX 2025, once again in Chattanooga. For information, and to register, click here.
